On Wednesday, January 15, Burlington Public School seniors participated in Elks Interview Day. BPS English teacher, Ms. Jana Lindley, set up interviews with leaders in local businesses to help prepare seniors for future interviews. Students prepared a portfolio containing a cover letter, resume, list of references, job application, and a letter of recommendation and received three mock interviews from area professionals.
“I am so proud of the seniors for their positive attitudes in compiling their documents and preparing for these interviews,” said Ms. Lindley. “Sincere thanks to our volunteer interviewers who had many nice things to say about these students and offered helpful comments to improve their next interview experience.”
Interviewers volunteering their time included Nancy (Gray) Carpenter, April Kisling, Chad Kisling, Michelle Shelite, Tonny Loustaunau, Vanessa Garvie, Brock Morgan, Cade Jenlink, Meredith Harden, Toni Jacquez, Josh Pray, Vanessa (Hill) Jones, Gavin McCullough, Evan Vaverka, Jerry May, Brad Rieger, and Brandon Powell.
Thank you to the local Wheathearts group for providing cookies and bottled water and Joe Granados and Jennifer Heatherman for the event setup.
